Activities are an integral part of school life and student learning at CIS. Opportunities are wide in scope, and allow students to discover and develop individual talents and passions - whether sporting, intellectual, creative or service related. Activities bring our students together, encourage the development of skills that facilitate success in group or team environments, and allow them to be successful outside the classroom.
Activities at CIS
Activities, which comprise of competitive sports, extra curricular and co-curricular activities, are offered across three terms each school year to students in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Included in our extra curricular offerings are a range of mother tongue and language acquisition classes, which run after school. These classes provide students with an opportunity to support their mother tongue skills, or to learn an additional language that is not included in the regular curriculum. Language classes are a paid service, and are run by independent providers.
We also provide our students with a wide range of opportunities for sporting development, both recreationally and competitively, throughout the school year. Each campus has its own representative teams, which compete in the ACSIS (Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools) league. Through ACSIS sports, students represent CIS, competing against other international schools in age-based teams.
Competitive and recreational sports are offered across three terms, while some community sports, organised by independent providers, run all school year. Swimming (Lakeside only) is year-long competitive activity, with registration and trials conducted twice yearly.
With the exception of secondary co-curricular activities, students register for most activities via our online system in My.CIS. Registration for competitive sports is often an indication of interest, with students proceeding to tryouts in most instances. Parents are able to view their child’s activity timetables in the registration system or My.CIS.
